Sample Aspiration Comments

scenes of a "forced" marriage

The obsessional Gerhard was the strangest by far the roommate with whom I had to deal during my time flat. The Student had it placed us in the apartment and refused to take him out again when we realized what was for us as a cuckoo's egg placed in the apartment.

In psychology studies, I had learned that it is compulsory neurotics often embarrassed that they have this uncontrollable constraints and they are ashamed of it and often do not withdraw as much as possible from the public. Gerhard
in this respect was entirely different. He often told you about and its constraints, and described each, which is not fast enough could think of a good excuse to run away, how bad it would be for him and how much he would suffer the constraints.

fact, he came across quite differently. Sure, he had a hard time with its constraints, but he was still as if he had closed his peace with his illness, yes, as if he had even started to feel as something special because he was different than the others. Sometimes I felt as if he would peddle literally with its constraints, to try to assess understanding and affection of others to win.

He looked as if he would be defined by its constraints, I'm neurotic, so I am ... someone.

He developed even permanently new neuroses to his standard constraints. - (lock doors and windows) washing compulsion, the compulsion to control, Berührzwang (not want to be touched) and Zählzwang (often he was at university and was one of the small change in his shirt pocket so I watched from the foyer of the University of times as he walked the split staircase to the A-region on one side down, the other side came up again, then this site went down and on the one hand came up again. As it while a student in the ran away, he yelled at him like "Go away! barrel not me!"
Apparently this was some kind of compulsion order that he has all sides of a stairway must be run up or down once before he can go on.

Another time I met Caroline in the kitchen when granting their shopping in her closet compartment. When she saw me come in she said, "You know what's happening to me? I have seen Gerhard in the city. "

" Really, what the order this time of day in the city? Actually, he is now still at the university in the Bib. "

" I was just on my way to the bus stop public office when I discovered him on the sidewalk. He stood petrified in front of a bunch of dogs that lay before him on the sidewalk. When I asked him what's going on, he said he could not go further because he was afraid that he in the dog pile could occur. "

" Really? That's absurd! How long he stood there already? "

" He said he wanted to take the bus just after 9th When I met him it was already half past eleven. "Said Caroline. "I took him by the hand and we walked together to the bus stop. The poor guy! "

I shook my head in disbelief. "What always think of the things. Just imagine that would happen to him on a zebra crossing or a pedestrian crossing. The so all traffic would be stopped. "

After a few weeks later, Caroline moved out to her best friend to pull together, we got the first semester economics student Simone with Nachmieterin. When Simon had presented was not Gerhard moved in with us and they had not had a chance to advance to make an idea on what they were getting into.
She was rudely when they came to our apartment thrown into the deep end: Gerhard was in his dirty underwear and wore his mountain boots in the open door as Simone and her parents her furniture and clothes in the apartment.
I hear Simone's mother whispers to her, "So what did you just admitted there?"

Granted, the longer lived Gerhard with us and the more hopeless our efforts he looked again to get rid of, the, uh, shall we say, our experimental use of Gerhard. Nadine and I both studied psychology and had learned that desensitization was a proven method for constraints and other neuroses.

So I went often during the day with holding one's nose into his room and opened the window to free our apartment at least for a few hours of its smell. Almost every night I heard him curse in his room when he got home.

When times got mail, which was rare enough, I always laid it on the floor in front of his door. When the evening he came home and discovered the Post, he called most, knowing that I would hear, loud into the corridor: "George, but not always put my post on the floor. You know very well that I can not then cancel because of the fox tapeworm "

The next morning the post was gone forever - but obviously he could stand up to his neuroses ...

So Caroline was still living with us, it was also once witnessed a different character from Gerhard. So they came once to my room and said, "You know what I have just noticed?"

I shook my head. "Shoot. What?

"I heard Gerhard in his room chatting loudly and asked me first, whether there would have a guest. So far he had never taken time with someone in the WG. But then I heard the words and realized that he was praying loudly, "

" Really? And why did he pray? "

" He repeated several requests like, Please dear God, do I not lose my keys 'or' Please do not let me forget my Busgeld. " He repeated this request certainly ten or twenty times. His door was partially open and I could see that in underwear kneeling beside the bed and prayed against the wall. It looked very strange. "

I had not thought of that faith Gerhard is. What I had seen many times and even had heard about him was that he was very easily irritated and so with the recent German history was not quite as accurate ...

So I once heard of a fellow student that he Gerhard views on the bus, or rather heard it. Gerhard was because of some strange compulsion buy a semester ticket for the bus but had to pay more each trip individually.
Once he had just bought his ticket when the bus driver drove off already. Gerhard was probably as surprised by the start of the bus that he found his ticket out of his hand on the floor. Furthermore, he was so angry that he yelled at the driver: "If I had a gun I would shoot you, you Nazi pig! "

The bus driver was probably smart enough not to respond to such provocation and had rumschreien Gerhard. In the case of Stadtwerke Konstanz Gerhard was certainly known as a sore thumb ...

other hand, Gerhard also believed in the devil, as I learned through my neighbors again. Marius, a sports student from the neighbor-WG, was a big heavy metal fan and often wore T-shirts from Iron Maiden, on which were most ready to buy any zombies or skulls.
When Marius heard that a penalty was € sufferers named Gerhard moved in with us in the apartment, he said, "Is this the guy who always runs at the university in front of me like this, because he thinks I am the Antichrist? "

" Why Antichrist? "I asked.

"If I wear my Iron Maiden T-shirts, he always runs away from me. Probably he is afraid of the artwork on the T-shirts. This is really always so funny! I've never seen a grown man run as fast. "

I do not need to write that Marius was in this conversation, often times invited us for a beer ...

One Sunday afternoon I came from a home leave with Manuela back to my flat and immediately noticed the new fragrance, which had spread in the apartment.

Just at that moment went to the kitchen door and Gerhard, and a second person came out of the kitchen. Gerhard's companion was the middle of summer boots, a discharged jeans and a dirty parka, which he had drawn up to his neck. He had long greasy hair and smiled at me uncertainly. Gerhard pointed to his friend and said: "This is Ralf, did he fear of drafts, so we have all the windows!"

Oh great, plague and cholera at once!

I mumbled "hello" and squeezed piece with Manuela in tow at the two over to my room in order first to tear open the window and gasp for fresh air.

After I catch your breath came I said to Manuel: ". Now we do with the two something Desensibilisierungstraining"

I went out into the hallway, opened her apartment door gaping wide and then went into the kitchen where Gerhard and Ralf sat at the table and talked and there was also still on the window.

Ralf jumped up with a scream and fled in Gerhard's room.

"You're so mean" bleated Gerhard and joined his colleagues sentiments.

"wash out again," I called after him. "And take the same with Ralf and his parka in the shower - that's had also once again necessary!" to make

Once through Central Park skating

An internship in New York, was for me a big long dream. I had seen on television and in movies as much about the "Big Apple" that I finally wanted to see the city itself in order to form my own opinion.

When I was at JFK airport first set foot on American soil, I could not even believe that I now actually "over there" bin. Since I picked up my girlfriend Manuela and an acquaintance of her at the airport, I had no time naturally have to take too great a view of the city. Manuela and I had not seen for two months (and we were including those two months only three months together!) so I had to do other things than the New York skyline to admire on the way from the airport to my new home.
had
During this first internship in the States, I go to several opportunities in the city. But since we a two-hour train ride from Central Station were living, I was rarely in the city than I would have liked.

later had During my second internship 2 years I have more time for me to see the city because I lived in the middle of Brooklyn and needed "only" 45 minutes from my apartment to Union Square Park in midtown Manhattan. So I spent much time in the city, looked me to all parts of Italy to the Bronx Littly and ran on my best day from Battery Park at the southern tip of Manhattan up to 110 street (a little over 12 miles!) that the Central Park bounded on the north.

A long-cherished dream of mine was to ride once with inline skates through Central Park. I had so often seen movies where the main characters jogged through Central Park, rode bicycles or drove on skates, so I make sure wanted to.

I had my skates on the flight as hand luggage taken on board, which had left the flight attendant with an irritated groan, because the skates were very cumbersome and not in the tray adapted for hand luggage. In the end, but found it in a kind of chest at the rear exit of the aircraft still room for the skates.

As long as I lived in Brooklyn, but I had never had the time or inclination on the subway to go to Central Park to skate just about there and then drenched in sweat to go back to showering in my apartment in Brooklyn. It was too expensive so I just skated around a bit in Brooklyn, to stay there a little look around.

After four weeks of practical training I got my girlfriend still visit for two weeks and we wanted to look around a little in the city and perhaps rumreisen. Because my landlord in Brooklyn did not want a second person was living in my room, I had to look what else.

not entirely altruistic, I looked for a hostel in the 110 road at the north end of Central Park. So I could meet on the morning of the day of Manuela's arrival at Newark Airport or my dream: once by the Central Park skating!

Central Park is actually one paradox: because in a city where the rental space is almost worth its weight in gold, such a large, non-commercial space to have, is actually an impossibility. The fact that no one has tried, Central Park into a "Central Parking Lot" or is to transform a large office complex, hard to believe - has tried well, it certainly someone, just so far was not successful.

In any case, it was to ride for me a very special experience, with skating through Central Park. Thus, a huge, green oasis in a canyon of skyscrapers in the middle of the city is already a strange sight.

I had enough time, I skated from the corner of Central Park West and West 110th Street, a large round through Central Park past the Harlem Meer and the Jackie Onassis Reservoir all the way down to West 59 Street and then back again. The weather was sunny and almost a bit too hot the streets around the park were teeming with joggers, cyclists, skaters, hikers and horse drawn carriages, but as the roads in the park extra have a fast track for those in a hurry, I was still thoroughly and enjoyed it in the shadow of the New York skyline a tour of the Park turn.

I was still on the way back a stop at the level of West 93rd Street. There is a small paved circuit, where inline and roller skaters in the shade of the trees turn to the music of street musicians make their rounds - and "Showing off" can operate.
A few women athletes in the strict dress fly round and showed her curves as well as a few skaters Bodybuilders who hinted her perfectly shredded abdominal muscles through their skin-tight, sleeveless shirts.

Besides these typical fitness studio audience to see some normal people, including an elderly man who drove in the round-about and thereby three water bottles on his head balanced - I later learned that this "water carrier" has taken almost a similar celebrity had, as the Nude Cowboy in Times Square.

Since approached the arrival of Manuel and I take a shower before or should, I had to go home. Back at the hostel, I wondered how all the joggers, cyclists and Skater made even with the showers after sport. I had, despite intensive Internet search is no way to shower or wash up in the vicinity of the park found for example in a swimming pool or a gym and was glad that my hostel was right on the border of the park, so I without a long subway or bus ride came to a shower.

The other athletes, whom I had met in my lap through the park had to either live around the park, or have no problem to harass their fellow citizens by their body odor in public transport - on the other, the smells to a sometimes from one of the hopelessly overcrowded Subway Wagon spilled contrary, the exhalations of the joggers were surely only negligible.

took the afternoon my friend at the airport and did not come a second time to to skate through the park. But at least I had this dream come true to me once and it was well worth it!

for a long time, I imagined how it would be like to live in an apartment on Central Park West, and often to a go-around through the park can - to this day have I met this particular dream yet, but what is not can still be ...

We will help you!

had through my several internships in the U.S. quite a few experiences with the universities in these two countries made and had to sit even with the one or the other officers mold (especially in Germany) apart. An experience that I have made here is that we in Germany are often perceived as annoying complainer that keeps the university staff from their actual work (whatever that is).

In the U.S., university employees are completely different. They are friendly, courteous, helpful, but often completely clueless Every time I went to an American university in the student or faculty office, I was warmly received, so in style:

"Hello, how are you? If the not a beautiful day? How can I help you? ... "

One can imagine the conversations: Very friendly, very helpful and courteous. Often I was told that I am very good at filling out forms - my standard response to this "praise" was that I'm from Germany and we are proficient in German filling out forms.
In Germany, however, it is often with a more or less friendly welcome (well, some say, "How can I help you?" But the way it sounds to say it rather "What do you want?" Need to get in my light and my wegatmen air? ") is then operated or being told that someone else was responsible, "This makes the master tailor in C413, but today leave"

The Unia-off in the U.S. are friendly and helpful, but would never admit in life, that they have no idea what they want or who could help me further. In Stony Brook I did this happen so often that when I went to one of the registrar's office, I was received very warmly, the secretary was friendly and interested, and when I uttered my question also mentions it often, "Well, that's not my job, but sometimes go down the aisle to the last office on the left. This is Judy's ! Office responsible for your concern "at the end of the hallway

in the said office I was welcomed very warmly by Judy, she was curious and polite and when I presented my problem, she said," Oh, but I'm not responsible but sometimes go to the office Estelle XXX at the end of the corridor. Which is responsible for you. "

At the end of the corridor in Estelle's office I was greeted warmly, Estelle was polite and curious, and as I presented my problem ...

It is not difficult to imagine how this story goes on. Eventually I ended up mostly in the correct office and was able to solve my problem, but why me no or sent directly there has told me that she has or he has no idea and I must make myself clever, I'll probably never understand. It would have to go sure saved a lot of times when I would not have been sent four times in a circle to someone who I can be "guaranteed" to be and would have informed himself instead, and then directly to the right person.

In the U.S., but not the only university employees are like that. Even people you meet on the street or in shops do not dare to tell you that they have no idea. Many Americans apparently have such a strange need for impression management (Impression Management), have more than friendly, helpful and knowledgeable present. Apparently it would cost great effort to say, "I have no idea, ask someone else."

said Manuela and I sometimes in the small town of Port Jefferson go to the movies in the movie "Bugs". We had no idea where the movie was, and navigation systems did not exist back then. Thus, by asking, we had to.

We had such a rough idea could be the cinema, and ran off in the direction. But when we had seen after 20 minutes of running still no movies, we went in in a bagel shop in order to ask for directions. The approximately 18 year old employee sent us towards the city back and said that they would be very sure that is the movie theater there.

After another 20 minutes we asked in the street an old lady on the street for directions to the cinema. She sent us in the direction of the port, because it would be very sure that the cinema would be there.

When we were after a good 15 minutes near the port and had still seen no cinema, we asked in a garage for directions. The man in the shop sent us back in the direction from which we had come. The cinema was only 5 (car) minutes ...

For the film, it was now too late, but we were still out in the hope that perhaps a See subsequent presentation to, or perhaps a different movie.

On the way to the cinema, we came back past the bagel shop in which we asked for directions the first time. The cinema was not 400 meters away from the Donut bakery. And we were running around in circles for over an hour because we are "completely safe" directions of the various people had thought!

Honestly, what's wrong with these people?

Funnily Manuela and I were also asked on the street for directions to a place I did not know the. We were in Stony Brook on his way to Green Cactus, a Mexican fast food restaurant where Manuel and I Eating times were like when a car stopped beside us. In the car sat a man and a woman and a stack of children in the back seat.

"Excuse me, can you tell me how I come to the Home Depot?" I asked the co-driver.

"I'm sorry, but we are not from here. I have no idea where the Home Depot is. "

This was clearly not the answer which the Beifarerin was expected of me. She looked at all bedröppelt and then asked, "Can you show me at least the general direction?"

"I really have no idea. The Home Depot could be anywhere. I can not Direction show! You have to ask someone else. "

The woman looked me speechless with big puppy eyes. The car to drive but made no move on. Apparently the two were not hide the fact that I had them rejected that. Apparently I was

the family not otherwise going to answer the question as to one or the other way. "Try it a try in the direction of town. I would imagine that the Home Depot have more outside the city as a settlement is in the inner city. "

A broad smile came over the face of the co-driver. "Thank you thousand," she said. Then her husband gave Gas and the car went in the direction of it that I had shown the two.

These people can not really deal with rejection. Rather, they can give the wrong information than none. Funny ...

I praise myself but my German fellow-citizens. Either they know the way and tell you how to get to the desired location. Or they have no idea and say that one also.

This I am sent from a non-competent secretariat to the next non-competent secretariat, only because the respective secretary did not want to admit that she had no idea I was frankly pretty bad. But apparently serve the secretaries and other persons so that only a need of their fellow citizens.

because people do not just give a false statement, but some would also have a false statement, only that they have anything at all. This must be

probably a difference in attitude between us Germans and Americans. But as long as you do not for a false statement is sued for a million damages should it be me so if the people are rather crappy, but to get an honest answer.

Letter Of Invitation For A Wedding Visa Usa

celebrate as they are not my problem ...

The birthdays of roommates are always such a thing. Celebrate it in the WG or celebrate their birthdays dear roommate with their non-flat or friends can be his roommate and (most all) roommates on her birthday rather alone, so she in her room her I-am-a-year-older-can become licking wounds.

My roommate Petra for example, was always mad at her age and she crawled on her birthday dear in her room, when looking in the flat to let, where you could run any friendly faces on the way and their possibly also might wish them well.

Nadine other hand, was constantly partying virtually every day something. Since her birthday was just another opportunity to make paella, to barbecue in the courtyard and a few bottles of cervezas to this title.

Simone went on her birthday always to their parents, to celebrate with her friends, Caroline, a waitress on her birthday and brought the work of a bottle of vodka, which we emptied at night at half past one in the WG kitchen with a few sandwiches. In contrast, our roommate John I had never betrayed his birthday ...

My party mood depended mostly on my financial situation if I had enough money, then there was a celebration and if not, then do not. It was as simple in the study.

usually arrived at least for my money one of my legendary coffee party here in the WG-kitchen, or in fine weather in the courtyard of St. Peter Hauser Briel dormitory. On my

last birthday in my dorm-WG I wanted to have a party a big party and had invited many friends and fellow students. My departure to my internship in the United States was imminent and I would not see many of my friends for almost a year, I had folded my birthday and my farewell party.

My roommates wanted instead of a gift the entertainment take my guests, but since I Nadine's and Simone's baking skills have had on previous occasions, bad memories, I took the cake production rather self

Instead, I gave the two a couple of side dishes (such as a salad and puff pastry) for the Pizza evening session. The best gift that I made these two to my last party in my dorm-WG was that they took over the clean-up service to the party!

In view of the fact that my guests had made excessive use of 2kg bag of confetti and fireworks of the room and that all our dishes were distributed on the tables, window sills and shelves of our home, that was a really practical gift ...
